I am a Virginia-based motion graphic artist with 17 years of experience, 14 of which I was directing visuals in the field of journalism and media. Throughout my career, my skills have evolved to better suit the market and its needs:
In 2009, I worked as an infographic designer for a business newspaper, using visuals to simplify complex financial news and make it reader-friendly.
In 2013, I shifted my career to digital platforms, creating graphics for online content, i.e assisting the editorial team with digital assets for their stories.
In 2018, I launched “Al Arabiya Media”, a project for Al Arabiya News Channel’s website and social media, in which we started creating short video reports with graphics and text on screen.
I then worked with the Abu Dhabi Government Media Office as a senior multimedia designer, where I was in charge of video graphics for social media and government events.
In 2022, I moved to the USA to work with AlHurra channel as a visual editor, where I am responsible for creating 2D motion graphics and animated editorial drawings for Al Hurra digital documentaries and reports.
I enjoy using my creativity to fill in missing visual elements and I have a keen eye for detail. I strive to incorporate even the smallest details to bring a sense of realism to any re-imagined scene.
Throughout my career, my favorite projects were those that included working on visuals that debunk false information, verify crucial stories, and present re-imagined spaces based on descriptive interviews or open-source data.
One specific project that I immensely enjoyed working on was the Double Tap report, in which I collaborated with journalists and the Syria Justice and Accountability Center to identify the locations bombed by Russia and the Syrian regime in Syria. My task was to map and animate these locations.
Additionally, I assisted in collecting open-sourced videos and aligning landmarks from different angles to confirm the locations based on different eyewitness videographers. We also confirmed the timing of the bombing by using open-source data and analyzing the shadows in the videos.
My previous experience in advertising and publication has given me extensive knowledge in using Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator. These skills have helped me in designing and illustrating scenes for animation, as well as collaborating with other designers on large projects.
As a quick learner, I enjoy discovering hacks and tricks to overcome the challenges I encounter while creating videos. Recently, I purchased a DJI Mini 3 Pro, and enhanced its video quality by using camera filters to reduce glare and create a natural motion blur. To perfect the outcome of DJI drone shots, I learned color correction and color grading, and sound design on Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe Audition.
Another great passion of mine is creating 2D character animations and explainer videos. I use Adobe Illustrator to design characters and MOHO Animation to animate them professionally. Additionally, I use Plug-ins like Limber or Rubberhose to animate and compose in Adobe After Effects
Lately, I have been working on designing more complex 3D scenes and tracking more complex videos. So to simplify the process, I have begun my journey to learn Blender 3D.
